‘Strange Adventures #2’ (review)

Written by Tom King
Art by Mitch Gerads and Evan Shaner
Published by DC Comics

The first issue of this was a wild time. Tom King is one of the best writers in the business and he proves that again with this series. It is such a strange and peculiar story yet it works on a few different levels, much like every comic book King writes.

I found this issue fascinating.

In this book, an activist accuses Adam Strange of war crimes publicly. Then, the same activist winds up dead.

Did Adam Strange kill the activist?

This is when people start to doubt Adam Strange. They even start to doubt that he ever had adventures on the planet Rann.

Even worse, Adam Strange starts to doubt himself.

He goes to the planet Rann to see his love.

She tells him there is trouble happening on Rann. He swears to protect her and Rann.

But is this really happening?

Or is this just something that he is making up?

What is the truth?

Mr. Terrific, the world’s third smartest man, is on Adam Strange’s trail. What will he uncover in his investigation?

Adam, meanwhile, is trying to balance his life on two worlds. Can he manage it? Or will his life come apart? It is a very dramatic and very intriguing storyline.

The writing is superb. The art by Mitch Gerads and Evan Shaner is great.

The two art styles shouldn’t work together in any storyline but, alas, it does. I look forward to seeing what this creative team has in store for this comic coming up.

This is one solid book.

RATING: A
