‘Strange Adventures #4’ (review)

Written by Tom King
Art by Mitch Gerads and Evan Shaner
Published By DC Comics

DC Comics has another winner on their hands with this book.

It is such a good time and it is strangely loopy and emotional. The creative team really pull out all the stops with this one. I have to say, this is one of the more original comics to come down the pike in quite some time.

At the beginning of the issue, we get to see Adam Strange on the planet Rann leading a strike! Strange revs up his troops! They launch into battle. They are prepared to die for their cause if necessary.

Then, something crazy happens that throws a wrench in things.

Meanwhile, Mr. Terrific’s investigation brings him to the planet Rann at the beginning of this issue.

He didn’t have much luck talking to a citizen of Rann in the previous issue, so he is hoping that this visit fares better for him.

Needless to say, it all goes to hell fairly quickly.

Hal Jordan makes an appearance and both he and Adam Strange share a drink. Adam asks for a favor. It doesn’t go too well. Everything starts to really come to a head at the end of the issue. There are some real surprises along the way as well.

The story by Tom King is very strong. He is excellent at finding the humanity in every scene, no matter how crazy it gets.

And Gerads and Shaner kill it on the art.

This is a great book overall, and I am loving it. I hope they can keep the quality up because this is awesome.
