‘Strange Adventures #5’ (review)

Written by Tom King
Art by Mitch Gerads and Evan “Doc” Shaner
Published by DC Comics

This is a really great mini-series thus far.

This has been an entertaining time all around thus far and I liked this particular issue very much.

Mr. Terrific has made his way back to Earth!

Let it be said that he is not a big fan of Adam Strange. The conflict between the two of them is really starting to escalate. It is out in the open too and the two of them aren’t being nice anymore!

Mr. Terrific continues his investigation into who Adam Strange is.

The investigation part of this book is really compelling. Writer Tom King knows his way around a mystery and each scene is wonderfully constructed.

The best part of the issue is the opening when Adam Strange and his wife are having coffee relaxing. It is a good opening.

She gets a message on her phone. Adam is in trouble. We get to see then a few people testifying against him. The Martian Manhunter is even there!

Things really start to intensify here and we eventually see that this issue is a pivotal juncture for the entire series.

King keeps the story interesting throughout. If I had any complaint, it is that I wanted more immediately once the issue is over. Not a bad thing. The artwork by Gerads and Shaner is tops as well. They are both doing some of the best works of their respective careers.

This is great.

RATING: A
