Stream On: New to Netflix for September 2020

The Summer That Wasn’t is dying down, and as we slide into Stay-Home Autumn, Netflix is hoping to continue to ignite their captive audience with a few new offerings featuring A-listers, a few beloved classics from yesteryear, and a handful of returning favorites.

On Sept. 3, Rachel Leigh Cook and Damon Wayans Jr. star in Love, Guaranteed, a feel-good rom-com about a lawyer who represents a client who sues a dating site. Things go well, until by golly, the two begin to fall for each other.

Hilary Swank stars in the sci-fi drama series Away, set to premiere on the streaming service on Sept. 4. The Oscar winner plays an astronaut mom who embarks on a dangerous three-year mission with an international crew.

In addition to Away, Charlie Kaufman’s new psychological horror film I’m Thinking About Ending Things will debut on Netflix. Based on the novel by Iain Reid, the story follows a young couple who go to visit family on a remote farm only to have the evening go horribly awry.

On Sept. 18, the One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest prequel series that no one asked for and even really anticipated lands on the streaming service. Starring American Horror Story‘s key player Sarah Paulson, Ratched offers a campy take on the one of the most sadistic and evil villains in cinema history. Co-starring Judy Davis and Cynthia Nixon, Ryan Murphy’s feminist answer to Joker looks to explore the birth of a movie monster.

Millie Bobbie Brown steps out of her Stranger Things shadow into the role of Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister, Enola Holmes. Based on the book by Nancy Springer, the mystery period piece also stars Sam Claflin, Henry Cavill, and Helena Bonham Carter. The feature film is set to premiere on Sept. 23.

New additions to Netflix also include fire-roasted food porn Chef’s Table: BBQ (Sept. 2), detective show Young Wallander (Sept. 3), Brit legal drama Criminal (Sept. 16), karaoke competition Sing On! (Sept. 16), and a teen-targeted dinosaur series called Jurassic Park: Camp Cretaceous (Sept. 18). Returning series include a new season of The Chef Show (Sept. 24), season four of Van Helsing (Sept. 28), and the eighth season of Wentworth (Sept. 30).

And to bulk up their catalogue, Netflix is adding all three films from the Back to the Future trilogy, the first three Jurassic Park pics,  and the final season of The Good Place for all ya basics.
