‘Nightwing #75’ (review)

Written by Dan Jurgens
Art by Ronan Cliquet and Travis Moore
Published by DC Comics

Dick Grayson is back as Nightwing in this title again.

Honestly, it has been a hard two years of waiting for this to happen! Here we are, so let’s appreciate it. Now that he is back, we get to see him in action once again.

That leads me to ask the question if it was worth the wait?

Dick is visited by Beast Boy and Donna Troy at the beginning of the issue. I have to admit that I really enjoyed this. Jurgens has a good feel for all of the characters here and it an actual sweet and nostalgic scene that really works. It is also a good set up for the rest of the issue.

After that awesome opening, we get a glimpse of some of the upcoming villains and their plans. It is all rather ominous.

We then get to see Dick fighting crime with Batgirl. She is telling him the reasons that he has to put the costume back on.

He is still hesitant.

Dick finally teams up with Batman to take on the KGBeast.

It is a great scene with plenty of action and character development. It is pretty wonderful. We see some of the lead up to Dick putting on the costume. We also get to see some of the love story between Bea and Dick and it is handled very well.

Dan Jurgens was handed a real raw deal when he was first handed the book as a writer. He made some great stories nonetheless. He does that here too.

Now, we might actually get his take on classic Nightwing. I think he can do a great job. If he sticks with good artists (Cliquet and Moore do great on this issue) this could be the start of a new era for the character.

RATING: B+
