This is the end of writer Scott Lobdell’s run on this title. He has done a hell of a job with this character. While it is sad that his run is ending, this is a clear and sharp conclusion for sure. I enjoyed the series as a whole and this was definitely a very satisfying conclusion.
The opening of this issue takes place “one month before” has one of the coolest pages of the entire series. It is a splash page of the Red Hood, Artemis, and Bizarro together again headed towards a goal.
It is great to see them together again and banter. That is when we see what their goal is. It is rather surprising what it ends up being.
From there, we head up to present day.
We get to see where everyone ended up. Lobdell really ties together all of the various threads throughout his run here. He shows where these characters have ended up. It is all very real and emotional and I liked it very much.
However, no comic book like this is truly over until we have a fight.
Luckily, the creative team deliver on that fight. The Red Hood and his gang go up against the Joker’s daughter in an all out fight. It is pretty great and exciting and I just loved it.
The story is pretty fantastic. The art is completely fitting and well done.
After many years reading this title, I really am sad to see it go. They ended this the right way though. It was worth reading this book to get to this finale.
