‘American Vampire 1976 #2’ (review)

Written by Scott Snyder
Art by Rafael Albuquerque
Published by DC Comics

American Vampire is being published yet again and all is right in the world.

This horror series really is something special. It has been a long time since the last series was out and the creative team has not missed a beat. This has been very fun and exciting thus far.

A heist is being plotted.

We get to see Pearl and Skinner are teaming up to rob the Freedom Train. The problem is that these two are old frenemies and they banter back and forth. Snyder really nails their personalities in the dialogue pretty perfectly here.

They also have a new teammate in their heist plan. I won’t spoil it but it is a character from the past and it is great to see them.

They better hurry up and get on that heist, however.

The nation is about to burn down, it seems!

There is a villain at the center of all this that is called the Beast.

The Beast is looking for mass terrorism and global annihilation. But there may be another sort of evil in play, much bigger than the Beast. We get a glimpse of what that might end up being.

And it is completely horrifying.

The story is pretty damn great.

Snyder is firing on all cylinders and it is really just fantastic. The art by Albuquerque shows him at the top of his game.

This series is only getting better and better.

I look forward to seeing what Snyder and Albuquerque have in store for us with this series.

RATING: A
