‘Dark Knights: Death Metal #5’ (review)

Written by Scott Snyder
Art by Greg Capullo
Published by DC Comics

This book is completely out of it’s mind.

Let us get that out of the way first of all. The book is also very enjoyable and well paced. Writer Scott Snyder and artist Greg Capullo are doing some great work here again.

They are just throwing in everything they can plus the kitchen sink!

The book focuses a bit on Castle Bat. This is a Batman that has literally turned himself into Gotham City. And it is completely evil and sort of reminds me of Voltron for some reason. It is completely crazy as well.

We get to see some of the heroes take on this Castle Bat at the beginning of the book.

As this fight rages on, we get to see that the Darkest Knight has won. He has the ultimate power at his disposal finally and he is ready to enact his crazy ultimate plan at last.

The Darkest Knight wants to recreate the Multiverse in his image. He seems that he might be able to. We get to see heroes get themselves together to take their final stand. This all leads to one hell of an ending that spins this entire series on it’s head.

It is pretty exciting.

The writing is pretty great. Snyder is really pushing himself to make something special and it shows on every page. Likewise, Capullo is doing great on the art as well. This is a really wonderful follow up to the first series and I can’t wait to see how it ends.

RATING: A
