This book is a ton of fun from start to finish.
I have been enjoying the Death Metal title and all of the various spin-offs very much. They have all been enjoyable and suitably wacky.
This particular issue fits perfectly within that story.
The first story of this issue is a story of Robin King.
It is written by Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, and Joshua Williamson and it features art by Juan Gedeon.
I can’t see why this short story needed three writers, but whatever, it is fun and the art is damn good. We basically learn a bit more about Robin King and it is well done.
Patton Oswalt (yes, that Patton Oswalt) writes a story about the killer Zsasz in the next story. I remember hearing years ago Oswalt had a Zsasz story to tell.
Anyway this is a lot of fun and very dark. There is actually something in this story that I never thought I’d see in a comic. Needless to say, I loved it.
Amanda Connor and Jimmy Palmiotti write the next tale about the Super Pets. This is silly and stupid fun. Almost a bit too silly. I will say that I loved the art by Char Hardin. It is very cool.
There is also a Green Lantern/ Green Arrow tale by writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Scot Eaton which wasn’t very good but passable enough.
The last story of this comic is by writer Brandon Thomas and artist Tom Mandrake. It features Steel and it may be my favorite Steel story ever. This is very well done. The book as a whole is.
I am loving everything that is Death Metal and this really fits in perfectly.
