Man, does this series drag.
This started off as kind of fun but now it feels like it is taking forever. I don’t blame the two artists however as they are both doing incredible work. I think writer Kami Garcia only had plot for four issues but it has been extended to eight total.
We get to see the Joker doing some investigating at the beginning of the book. He is looking in the past for clues about the same investigation Harley Quinn is looking into in the present.
This version of the Joker is pretty weak, sadly, and doesn’t give off much in the way of real menace.
The book then cuts to the present. We get to see Harley Quinn meeting with an older couple looking further into the mystery of the book. This is an important scene that leads to something bigger and it informs the rest of the issue here.
The book goes back and forth in time throughout the rest of the book. Things are getting closer to Harley figuring out the mystery. We get to see her and the Joker circle each other most of the issue.
It is fairly boring.
That’s my biggest problem with the book. It is extremely boring. The art is good but the story does not thrill. There is no suspense. The character development is nonexistent.
The result is a boring book that trudges along. I think I figured out how this is going to end as well.
