I thought for sure that this title was going to be cancelled. It seemed like everything was wrapping up. Yet, here we are with a new beginning and a new creative team.
I figured that I would give it a shot and I am glad I did! This was actually pretty entertaining.
This new beginning takes place after the “Joker War” storyline.
We get to see Jason Todd headed back to Gotham City. He is looking to have a new beginning for himself. Maybe even find himself a little peace. When we first see him here, he seems like a man trying to change.
We get to see him trying to track down a childhood friend in this issue, as he also does a bit of detective work.
It is nice to see this side of Jason Todd. It isn’t long before he gets into some old fashioned trouble, however.
His search for his friend leads Jason to be in the middle of a war between one Gotham’s neighborhood residents and some criminals.
A big action scene erupts. Jason has to make some quick decisions to find his place in the world here. These decisions may also decide where it is he is going.
I don’t think I have ever read anything that Shawn C. Martinbrough has written (he is a very good artist). He writes a great script hare and he has a great handle on these characters.
Likewise, Tony Adkins does a perfect job on the art. This is a nice new beginning for the title and I hope the quality stays high like this.
