‘The Green Lantern: Season Two #9’ (review)

Written by Grant Morrison
Art by Liam Sharp
Published by DC Comics

Man, this is epic.

Grant Morrison is doing one last comic book hurrah writing this title and it shows. This book has been great from the beginning and it only gets better and better. This issue is nuts and I completely loved it from the very first page until the very last.

This issue features the trial of Hyperman.

Of course since Grant Morrison is the writer, it is unlike any trial that anyone has seen before! Although it does get wacky, I actually found the trial strangely compelling.

There seem to be forces gathering in the dark. This becomes more readily apparent as the issue goes on. These forces have been present since Morrison and Sharp’s first issue of this series.

It seems now like all the various plot threads are coming to fruition.

We also get to see Hal Jordan be. reunited with his one true love, Carol Ferris. Their scenes make up the emotional core of this issue. It is strangely sweet and wonderful.

But it isn’t long before Hal has to go out on a mission and fight some evil. Maybe even for the very last time.

The story here is really well done, yet again. Morrison writes a dynamite script here. The art is great as well.

This is the best Green Lantern book to come down the pike in quite some time. I will be sad when it all ends for sure.

RATING: A
