Honestly, the first issue of this series was one hell of a delight.
I laughed.
I laughed a lot.
I was also amazed at the quality of the book.
This issue picks right up where that one left off. Except right away you notice that it is a different artist. Lewis LaRosa is gone and that is a shame as I love his work. But that is okay as the story here is very strong and engaging.
Ernie Ray Clementine is an illiterate and dumb biker who has been infused with a serum that makes him the ultimate super spy.
His life completely changes after the first issue and he is off to save the world!
At the start of the issue, we get to see the Central Authority caving into Ernie’s demands to help save the world. In that regard, they send him a new partner named Sister Mary.
Hmm. What could possibly go wrong?
A lot.
The pair find out and confront a group named the Scorpionus. Their meeting is action packed and hilarious. Yet, they offer Ernie more money to join them.
Will he be true to his word, or will he be, well, a Scumbag?
The answers are extremely entertaining and hilarious.
Remender is clearly having fun writing this series. His dialogue and characterizations are both perfect.
This is a great second issue. This feels like this is going to be a great long term series too.
