- Scott Z. Burns (Contagion) has been tapped to write the sequel to Rise of The Planet of The Apes. According to THR, “The project continues the story set forth in last year’s critical and commercial hit movie featuring simians that are given human intelligence and subsequently break out of their facility. At the same time, a virus breaks out that causes the collapse of human society.”

- Frank Grillo will join Joel Edgerton, Jessica Chastain, Jason Clarke, Edgar Ramirez, Mark Strong, Chris Pratt, Kyle Chandler, Jennifer Ehle, Nash Edgerton and Harold Perrineau Jr. in director Katherine Biegelow‘s upcoming, untitled film based on the hunt for Osama bin Laden written by Mark Boal.

- Greg Mottola (Superbad) is in talks to adapt The Marriage Plot, based on the book by Jeffrey Eugenides, for Sony and producer Scott Rudin. “Story focuses on a coming-of-age love triangle in the early 1980s. At
the center is a bookish English major caught up in the affections of two
men. As the romance of her favorite 19th century love stories begins to
seep into her own life, the trio move from college to the real world.” No word yet if Mottola will direct as well.
- Alexander Payne (The Descendents, Sideways) has cast Bruce Dern and Will Forte for his long gestating next project, a black and white film, Nebraska. “The script focuses on an aging alcoholic who drafts his son to drive him
from Montana to Nebraska so he can redeem his winning sweepstakes
ticket. The son goes reluctantly, believing his dad’s winning ticket is
actually a form letter.”
- Amy Adams is set to star in an adaptation of best-selling novel Dark Places by Gillian Flynn’s for writer/director Gilles Paquet-Brenner (Sarah’s Key). “Adams will play a woman who survived the brutal massacre of her family
when she was seven-years old and testified against her own brother.
Twenty-five years later, a secret society obsessed with crime-solving
called the Kill Club brings her in for questioning to discover the truth
of the horrific crime.”
- Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan) will play the lead, Suzie, in ‘David Gordon Green‘s remake of Dario Argento‘s Suspiria. In the film, Suzie, “travels to Europe to attend a world-renowned
school, only to learn that the academy is a front for a coven of
witches.”
- Alex Russell and Ansel Elgort have joined the cast of Kimberly Pierce‘s Carrie remake starring Chloe Moretz. “The original 1976 pic was based on the Stephen King novel that followed a
sheltered high schooler who unleashes her new telekinetic powers on the
kids who picked on her at school. Russell will play one of the bullies,
and Elgort will play a friend who takes Carrie to the prom.”
