Hey, Hey It’s THE GHOULIGANS…

The Ghouligans! are back and they’re better than ever!

If you’ve never heard of The Ghouligans! before, then prepare to be enlightened, my friend. Boris Stein, Wolfgang W. Wolfgang, and Void star in their very own comedy show where they create a plethora of mischief and mayhem!

If The Monkees made a baby with The Munsters, this would be that freakish, darling lovechild.

If The Ghouligans! are new to you, here’s a little backstory on them.

Born of Slack Pack Productions in Long Island, New York, The Ghouligans! are, to put it simply, a monster comedy group. The Slack Pack is comprised of Mike Koscik (Boris), Pete Bune (Wolfgang) and Sean King (Void). They did a similar non-monster comedy show before devoting themselves full time to The Ghouligans! in 2005.

The first DVD, put out in 2006, is the black and white, self-titled The Ghouligans! They’ve released full length shows, sketches and occasionally host old-school horror flicks, The Last Man On Earth starring Vincent Price to name one. They also write their own original content like their brand new mini-series.

The Ghouligans! have been making their way around the horror convention circuit for some time now and are well-loved by many a fan. They often feature humor that’s reminiscent of 1960’s and 1970’s TV shows. Tame enough for a younger audience, but luckily the more adult jokes should whiz over kid’s heads. It’s akin to PeeWee’s Playhouse if it were horror themed.

In this six episode mini-series, you can expect to see the guys face off with a one-eyed monster, traverse multiple dimensions, and party ‘til they puke! It’s clear that a lot of time, two years to be exact, and effort went into the making of this mini-series. The special effects are wonderful and the sets are astounding. Lest we forget to mention their intricate, well done makeup and costumes. Every episode has it’s own unique adventure where the guys often find themselves in a heap of trouble. It oozes with nostalgia and it’s hard not to feel like a kid yourself watching it.

In addition to Boris, Wolfgang, and Void they’ve added a brand new cast of characters.

Ranging from the acerbic Krill Gill, a neon green merman, to the disco loving, suave vampire Count Flemming, the new cast members will not disappoint. In addition to these two, they also befriend Bob Tutenkamen, a charming mummy, while in Egypt.

May I just add the tomb set is phenomenal, probably my favorite set throughout the new mini-series. And it’s hard to forget the Phantom, who keeps looking for love in all the wrong places. Not to mention he’s totally sleazy and what I would assume would be a very, very cheap date. He gets his own reality show segment, reminiscent of The Bachelor.

In another scenario, The Ghouligans! find themselves stranded on an island where a tribe of savage women nearly kill them. As most women are prone to do. And of course, at one point the guys meet and fall in love with a frankengirl, a zombie broad, and a were-lady. Needless to say, they have a dance off to prove their worth to them. It works out great… until they find out the monstrous girls have boyfriends!

The Ghouligans! often parody popular songs, as well as films, such as Die Hard (Fry Hard) and Scarface (Scarfish). Obviously both parodies star the handsome (cough) Krill Gill. The Ghouligans! have also created their own commercial breaks, like the monster version of Buzz Bin. Although the plots of the shows are stellar, my favorite parts are always the commercials.

Utterly inventive and truly funny, I dare you not to laugh. I present to you my personal favorite, Wolfgang’s ZaZa Jeans commercial. Reminiscent of 1990’s ads, this one’s sure to please!

In the mini-series, Boris and Wolfgang prank Void on occasion. He always seems the get the short end of the stick! Oh, the plight of being a poor zombie! After having crudely sewing Void’s legs back on with dental floss while he’s asleep, they sneak up the stairs to watch him get out of bed. The results are both hilarious and kind of gnarly. Note, the effects in this bit are amazing and the first time I saw it I actually said out loud, “Holy geez, that looks phenomenal!”

So, if you’re a fan of horror, kitsch, humor, or any of the above, then The Ghouligans! mini-series is for you.

And you know what?

You can watch all six episodes right now on the Monster Channel! And if that strikes your fancy, head on over to theghouligans.com where you can find their previous DVDs, brought to you by Slack Pack Productions.

All in all, this little horror fan gives The Ghouligans! Mini-Series two, sharp claws up!
