I have to say, Christian Duce has some some amazing artwork on this issue. I can’t believe how good it is. The story by Peter J. Tomasi is fantastic as usual, but the art is a real eye opener. He’s done great artwork before but this is something special indeed. He may wind up as the next great Batman artist!
The plane that Bruce Wayne was on got shot down in the middle of the jungle. Now he’s hurt and is being carried around by a couple of the natives.
Where are they taking him ? What are their ultimate plans?
These questions are raised. But then the story takes a different path.
Tomasi focuses the story onto Deadshot.
Deadshot is the one who shot the plane down and he is on the job and causing trouble. He encounters some of the natives as well.
The natives don’t really take a liking to him. It leads to a pretty cool fight scene. Duce also has a great handle on Deadshot as a character. I wouldn’t mind seeing a series for Deadshot with Duce drawing it. He does a great job.
Bruce regroups a bit with the people who helped him out. He then creates a makeshift Batman outfit and takes the fight to Deadshot. They have a tussle. By the end of the issue, Bruce is running away from Deadshot, and Deadshot is ready to chase him down.
We then get a scene with Mr. Freeze talking to his love.
What does this have to do with anything?
I’m not sure, but I’m know that it’s leading to a cool place. Tomasi knows what he is doing and I trust him implicitly. For now, however, this is another fine issue of this involving series.
