‘Inferior Five #2’ (review)

Written and Art by
Jeff Lemire and Keith Giffen
Published by DC Comics

Whoever thought to pair up Jeff Lemire and Keith Giffen on a comic book deserves a raise. Honestly, these two creators are amazing and they work so well together that it is uncanny.

I love that this book exists and that the two are at the top of their game. It is pretty damn awesome.

The first scene takes place in 1988. Lisa and Helen are going through an abandoned place. They come across a little boy who is screaming for his mother. Then, the scene switches to an alien walking around and a monitor playing this scene. What is going on here? I don’t know but I was immediately completely intrigued.

This just had a very awesome opening that just hooks you.

We then cut to the story of Jenny Shanker and Billy Shanker. Billy has met and kind of befriended a bug eyed alien.

Their hijinks together take up a big portion of the issue. I am okay with it because most of it was pretty fun.

It is looking like the Dominators have not left the earth after the Invasion. That’s pretty much the cliffhanger we are left off on. It is all building to something and everything seems poised to become explosive!

The backup story features the Peacemaker stuck on earth. He seems to be there at Amanda Waller’s request.  It leads into a lot of intrigue and eventually even the KGBEAST!

It is an exciting chapter for sure, especially as drawn by Lemire.

This is a strange little book that I am quite enjoying. The story is quirky and the art by Giffen and Lemire is great! I look forward to seeing where they take us next month!
