I really love it when writer Scott Lobdell and artist Kenneth Rocafort work together. They really do an amazing job bringing out the best in one another. That is certainly the case here on this comic book.
The Red Hood has a new group that he is training. The antics between them all is fantastic. I love this new direction for the series and it is certainly quite amusing. By having Jason as the instructor of this class, the book has some new life just put right into it.
Jason thinks that it is a great idea to take the team on a mission to have the team go up against the Doomed army of villains!
And these villains? They are a rough bunch. Why not, right?
These rogues all decide to use chaos and destruction as their claim to the world!
Meanwhile, Jason sends his team to fight. While doing so, he teaches them about power and responsibility. It is darkly funny but also very human. Lobdell knows how to really balance these things well and it never feels forced.
By the end of the issue, we see that the “Year of the Villain” storyline has now crossed itself over with this. It is darkly brutal what is going on but it is highly exciting. I can’t wait to see where we land with this one.
The art is amazing here. Kenneth Rocafort is in a class of his own. Coupled together with Lobdell’s deft writing, this is pretty excellent. It is another fine issue in a great series.
