The Mr. Freeze storyline currently going on in this title is unbelievable!
There has never been a Freeze storyline that was considered “essential.”
I think we just found it. This storyline is something special and the creative team on it is pretty perfect. They hit all the right notes.
The beginning of this chapter intercuts between the Batcave at Wayne Manor and the Gotham City Pine Barrens.
In the Batcave, Bruce and his team are working on a way to save the victims of Mr. Freeze.
At the Pine Barrens, Freeze and his wife are up to no good, turning Gotham in their own personal playground. Things aren’t looking too great.
Bruce races as fast as he can to figure out a way to save all the people of Gotham and defeat the Freeze family. Lucius Fox and Alfred help him and they think that they have found a serum to cure everyone. They try it out. It is a pretty harrowing scene.
Then, Bruce goes out to save Gotham!
Freeze and his wife are having a grand old time turning Gotham into their paradise. Or so Mr. Freeze thinks.
His wife eventually turns again. It seems that she has her own agenda. She even freezes Mr. Freeze! This was a pretty great scene.
Bruce tries to track down Mr. Freeze. He eventually finds him unfrozen. They have a confrontation. Freeze tells Batman that he needs his help to stop his wife. Batman reluctantly agrees and that is the cliffhanger that we are given! It is admittedly pretty damn great.
This is a really fantastic issue. I love what they have done here. It’s all due to the amazing creative team of Tomasi and Mahnke (along with Jose Luis). They are at the top of their game and it shows on each and every page.
