‘Inferior Five #4’ (review)

Written and Illustrated by
Keith Giffen and Jeff Lemire
Published by DC Comics

This has been just an excellent book thus far. This book is very weird and quirky but it also carries some emotional weight with it. I have been enjoying it very much. Whoever thought to put Jeff Lemire and Keith Giffen on the same book is a genius and deserves a raise. This is a truly cool comic book.

The opening two pages features Heepa looking through some of the wreckage of Dangerfield, Arizona. We get to see her diary entry where she talks about wanting to save her friend Lisa from more trouble.

Then, she comes across a being that may or may not be her father. He does attack her by the end of the scene.

It is a perfectly weird beginning to this book.

We then get to see the Tasmanian Devil facing off against a big starlike alien creature. They have a fight that is all kinds of awesome but does end in the Devil’s apparent defeat.

While this is happening, we also get to see the various people who make up this makeshift Inferior Five come together. It is really inventive and cool to see this happen.

By the end of this, we get to see one of the main creatures who may be responsible for this madness. Lemire and Giffen do a great job on this story keeping the reader interested. The art by Giffen is really cool too and feels fresh.

The backup story for this is written and illustrated by Jeff Lemire. It features the Peacemaker and it is absolutely wonderful. It is basically a short story that has Peacemaker headed towards Dangerfield, Arizona. He encounters a little bit of trouble on his way. It completes the nice package of that this book is. This is another enjoyable issue of this title.

RATING: A-
