This book is absolutely hilarious and absolutely insane.
Writer Matt Fraction has written a really fun book that is beautifully illustrated by Steve Lieber. They have made Jimmy Olsen a viable character to lead a comic. I never thought something like that could happen.
Yet, they do it effortlessly and it is wonderful.
The opening story of this book has Jimmy meeting up with his psychiatrist Dr. Lorelei Liu. The scene is very funny and inventive and shows a lot about Jimmy’s psyche. It also allows for different art styles as Jimmy explains some of the things about him.
From there, we get to see Lil’ Jimmy Olson and Pals which is cute scene and a little silly.
We also get to see Jimmy’s silly little crossover with Batman continue (in a sense). Fraction keeps the tone very light still which is a bit refreshing actually.
The rest of the issue is equally fun.
We get to see Jimmy back at the Daily Planet. It is actually a really nice scene between Jimmy and Perry. Jimmy also runs afoul of Lex Luthor in this issue. It is all very entertaining.
By the issue’s end, we end up in Opal City. Fraction has set up a nice little cliffhanger. He does a great job writing this. Steve Lieber also does a great job on the art. It is great to see him on this title. All and all, this is another fine issue in an enjoyable series.
