We are now three issues into Tynion’s run on this title and so far there is nothing memorable about it.
The whole experience thus far makes me feel like he doesn’t have a good take on this character. This issue follows that trend and is rather all over the place story wise.
The beginning of the issue has the only interesting thing to happen in it.
We get to see Catwoman about to dig up a grave. It is fairly intriguing to be fair. Then, she digs it up and she discovers the Joker’s body in a coffin.
What is going on here? How can this be?
Sadly, Tynion doesn’t have much follow through from this.
We get to see Batman doing his superhero thing when Lucius Fox calls him. Lucius seems to have encountered a problem and he needs Batman’s expert help.
We then have a silly moment when Batman had to steal a Batmobile. I dislike this version of the Batmobile and it is all very bland.
We then go back to the grave of the Joker. The Joker wakes up!
He then overpowers Catwoman with some help. This is meant to forward the story but to be honest, I was pretty bored by this point. But, I soldiered on.
We then catch up with Deathstroke and the Penguin. They have a conversation and then Batman appears. A fight happens! The Penguin is wounded. We then cut back to the graveyard and Catwoman comes across an overused guest star.
The story is all over the place and had nothing really special about it. I do like the art but March doesn’t get a lot of action to draw except for one extremely abbreviated fight scene. This title needs more life put into it.
Right now, it doesn’t have a lot going for it.
