‘Detective Comics #1024’ (review)

Written by Peter J. Tomasi
Art by Brad Walker
Published by DC Comics

This issue is the finale of the recent storyline involving Two-Face. I have to say, this is one of the best Two-Face stories ever.

Writer Peter J. Tomasi and artist Brad Walker do an incredible job on this comic and this has been really great. It just is a consistently quality book.

What I really liked the most about this issue, is that it is a “Joker War” story on top of a Two-Face story. We start the issue off with Batman going toe to tow with Lincoln March. It is a brutal fight to say the least and it is beautifully and brutally choreographed by Walker.

We also get to see Two-Face shooting at Batman.

Batman, of course, still thinks that there is some good left in Harvey.

It starts to get nuts as Batman tries to keep it all together. It is visceral and exciting and I couldn’t believe how well paced this comic is.

Interspersed with all of this, we get to see a separate scene where the Joker is just laughing. This whole thing leads up to one hell of a crescendo. It also ties perfectly into the other Batman books without taking anything away from this book.

It is a mighty feat.

That is why this book is fortunate to have writer Peter J. Tomasi working on it. He constructs another classy script.

Walker is one of the best artists working today and really knows how to illustrate a great story.

This has truly been a great run for this team on this comic.
