This book is another fine effort from writer Mark Russell and artist Steve Pugh.
The comic is funny, smart, and has a bit of a social message. The story is really starting to get going at this point as well. This issue really pushes the plot forward, and things here really start to take off!
At the beginning of the issue, Trent is being “tortured” by the Business Dog. It is a fairly silly scene but I giggled a lot. There is a humorous tone with this subplot and I very much enjoyed it. The Business Dog wants information and, come hell or high water, he will get it.
While this is happening, Shelley Bly and Falco are having a conversation with a guy named Mr. Jakes. They are trying to size him up and to see what he knows.
They also want to see if perhaps he knows a way off this island. The conversations with Mr. Jakes are hilarious here and continue throughout the book.
Shelly and Falco plan their escape off this cursed island.
Will it be successful? Or will they be stuck there forever? Can Mr. Jakes be trusted? There are so many elements to this story but I was never lost. All of the plot lines are well handled and maintained.
As good as the story is, it would be nothing without the art. Artist Steve Pugh does a magnificent job on this series. His art is expressive and emotional.
I am loving where this story is headed. It is only getting better with each passing issue.
