I thought the first series was great, but man, they really upped the ante for this sequel.
Writer Tom Taylor has really hit his stride here with this series and he really pushes the envelope. I can’t believe where we ended up by the last page of this intense issue.
Arsenal is watching out for the infected as this issue begins. He comes across a little girl and something tragic happens! I won’t spoil it but it did make me gasp.
That is when John Constantine shows up with a few of DC’s magical characters. It is a hell of a beginning!
A huge battle erupts! It is completely awesome to witness! John Constantine comes up against Swamp Thing. They have a discussion. Constantine basically goads Swamp Thing to help him.
It is a pretty incredible thing what happens next.
The remaining heroes then get a moment to regroup.
We then get to see Damian as Batman now that Bruce is gone. A plan starts to form about stopping the infected permanently.
But can it actually work?
Or will the remaining heroes succumb to being infected as well?
Things start to get really bleak at this point.
At the end of the issue, we are left with a cliffhanger where it looks like Constantine may pay the ultimate price. Taylor has written another fine story and artist Trevor Hairsine kills it on the art.
This is a great issue of an interesting title. The creative team has hooked me again!
