Death Metal has been a huge success and I am just loving it.
There have been a few spinoffs from the main event. They have all been of a certain quality. This particular 48 page special is no exception. This is an entertaining book that really moves and it is very well done.
I have three words that makes this book amazing: Three Crises simultaneously.
We see that Perpetua is determined to recreate the universe with energy she would get from the various Crises.
Seems like a crazy idea, right?
Well, somehow she is making it work! We get to see the ramifications of this from the very start of the book!
Wonder Woman gathers the troops and makes a plan. This scene basically explains the entire issue of what we are about to see. It is also extremely thrilling. It feels like the calm before the storm.
Then we get to see that storm. I have to say, the events that follow are glorious.
We then get to see Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman launch an attack on Castle Bat!
This is an awesome moment and the creative team really pace this part out perfectly. We get to see the other teams launch their attacks on their targets as well. This whole thing wraps up in an extremely thrilling way that leads into the rest of the saga.
Writer Scott Snyder is clearly having the time of his life here. This is completely nuts but I could not look away. Artist Francis Manapul is doing the work of his career here. His work is beautiful and completely exhilarating.
This is a truly great chapter of the Death Metal saga and it is worthy to give a repeat read.
