‘Legion of Super-Heroes #10’ (review)

Written by Brian Michael Bendis
Art by Ryan Sook
Published by DC Comics

I have to be honest. I am so lost on this book that I don’t even know where to begin.

Writer Brian Michael Bendis doesn’t understand the Legion and it pretty much shows on each and every page. I keep hoping against hope that he will turn things around.

Sadly, he never does.

This issue has Superboy going into Saturn Girl’s head.

The reason that Bendis gives why this has to happen isn’t very important. Only that it does. So, Superboy and Saturn Girl go off on an adventure together.

They are also falling for each other.

This seems like it would make a nice story, right?

Except we never get there.

The cover misleads you that it might finally be a character issue. It’s not. It is another issue where Bendis throws in everything but the kitchen sink.

There is a lot of different stories here and a lot of events. Bendis seems to want to only out-Bendis itself it seems. Everything is loud and fast. I couldn’t tell what was happening at a certain point.

I just honestly gave up once I saw the “surprise villain” at the end of the issue. It is just bad.

Bendis has torn a hole through the Legion with his writing. It is going nowhere fast.  The bright spot here is Ryan Sook. His art here is the best of his career. It truly is.

Sadly, he doesn’t have a good script and it really sinks his efforts as the artist on this. Too bad.

RATING: C
