‘You Look Like Death: Tales From The Umbrella Academy #2’ (review)

With the popularity of The Umbrella Academy on Netflix, it makes sense that there would make more comics with the individual team members.

This comic series seems to focus on Klaus and sets him off on a unique adventure. It works very well and it is very entertaining.

This issue begins in Hollywood at a party.

Our hero, Klaus, is on stage. He seems to be channeling a ghost. We get a little backstory and it literally sets the stage of what is to come. It is properly eerie and ominous.

From there, we get to see the ramifications of this. The ghost that is conjured is one of a known actor. It leads to some interesting dialogue and scenes. It also shows how Klaus may be more over his head than he originally thought.

Meanwhile, the vampire-chimp druglord catches a flight to Hollywood.  The plan is to find Klaus and have a confrontation with him. We get to see the two characters almost racing to a battle. Which one will survive? I am sure that we are going to find out.

The writing is fun and quirky. It is almost a little too quirky now. Maybe they should tone it back a bit. The art is decent. It is clear what is going on, even when things really go off the deep end.

Overall, this a likable book in The Umbrella Academy series, that could benefit from stopping trying too hard to be strange.

RATING: B
