‘Bill & Ted Are Doomed #3’ (review)

Written by Evan Dorkin
Art by Roger Langridge
Published by Dark Horse Comics

This Bill & Ted comic book feels like a throwback to a simpler time.

It feels like the 1990’s comic book featuring the same two characters. A lot of that has to do with writer Evan Dorkin. He worked on the older Marvel comic so he retains a lot of the feel from that series.

Bill & Ted have embarked on a world music tour.

Well, that music tour is now in chaos for the pair. They went to a death metal festival and they were thrown out of it. We see them here in this issue fleeing the scene.

We also get to see them soul searching, trying to find their place in the world.

This is when we see that they have an adversary.

There is a leader of a death metal band and he has Bill & Ted in his cross-hairs. A lot of the issue deals with the ramifications of that. Things do indeed get rather wonky for the two of them in this chase.

The issue is basically a hunt. It shows Bill & Ted on the run from this evil leader as well as thousands of the metal-heads at the villains disposal.

The question throughout this issue is can the intrepid pair be saved?

And can they write that one song that will bring the entire universe together at last?

The story is enjoyable and silly. But it’s a perfect silly.

I love Roger Langridge as an artist. He tells the story simply but effectively and never “shows off.” This is the penultimate issue of this series. I can’t wait to see how it ends and if it ties into canon perfectly or not.

RATING: B+
