This is a great book that has a lot invention in it.
Writer Chelsea Cain is really into playing with the form of comics and is always experimenting. It leads into some of the most interesting comic books coming out presently. I am enjoying this comic book very much.
Super Spy Nora Freud is having a hell of time on the Spy Island.
The island is crazy. The beaches have seemingly closed up. There have been a series of violent mermaid attacks throughout the island. They don’t look to be easing up anytime soon it seems as well.
Nora pokes her head around.
The story is frequently interrupted by either advertisements from the island, or just plain weirdness. This seems to be Chelsea Cain’s trademark as a writer. I hardly mind however, as it is really well done. It actually adds to the story that is going on.
There is a something happening on the island that involves a big marine cryptozoology conspiracy.
We watch as Nora tries to uncover what is actually going on here. It leads to a bit of madness both with the story and graphically. It is highly entertaining.
I commend writer Chelsea Cain for really sticking her neck out and trying new means of storytelling. It is commendable for sure. The art really marches the story and McCall is more than up to the challenge of the script.
This is truly a well done comic book that deserves to be read.
